Boilerplate
Nubly is a real-time, dynamic carpooling platform that matches drivers and riders along the routes they are already commuting. Unlike traditional carpools, Nubly riders and drivers don't need to share a neighborhood, a destination, or a schedule — only a stretch of road. Riders contribute toward the driver's costs at the IRS mileage rate, paid through Stripe; the platform takes no cut of the ride. Nubly is in invite-only pilot in the San Francisco Bay Area and opens corridors as enough commuters along a route sign up.
Story angles
- The carpool lane, without the carpool. Why fifty years of carpooling failed on matching — and what changes when you match a stretch of road instead of a whole trip.
- A platform that takes no cut. Contributions reimburse the driver at the IRS rate; Nubly is funded by the parties who benefit from less congestion — employers, cities, and transit agencies.
- Verified professionals, not strangers. LinkedIn-gated identity and two-way ratings, with a clear-eyed account of what the platform does and doesn't verify.
- Climate and congestion. Each filled seat is one fewer solo car on a Bay Area corridor at peak.
